Welcome to the Anti Sally club

Update

7/15/05: Probably wondering why we haven't been making a big update, haven't you? Well, that's because we've been discussing the fate of the club. Wondering what to do with it. If you're wondering what I mean by "we" I've employed a Sally fan to help me manage this club. Please welcome *Joan-Michele. Now, where were we? Oh yes... many people seem to beleive "anti" means totally against and hating. While that can be, its also been used to want "change" we don't want to bash, we want change in the potrayl of Sally. We want to see her better sides. I think I made that announcement. Yet, despite the fact I've made VERY clear the new rules for joining, people don't seem to read them. Too many older members who joined before the new rules use this club as a badge to say "wheee lookie me! I'm going to hate Sally for reasons that couldn't change anyway! HEdgehoxzxsquiral suxz SonAmy/SonMina/SonBreezie/SonShadow/SonEggman 4ever!!!!!1389487"

...No. That's not the idea of this club. Too many people have abused the idea behind the club and so drastic measures must be taken. If that means no one joins once I'm through with relaying the details... I suppose I'll live with that. I'm not letting the integrity of this club's idea be stomped on because people want to change what it means for their personal issues. I thought about closing the club. But I'm not. That's not fair to those who joined understanding what it beleived in, and those who were willing to uphold the integrity, honesty and open mindedness the club wanted to share with fans. So from now on, rules will be put on the front page. And due to consistant alterations in theme behind the club by older members, the member count is changing. The great purge. What's that mean? To put it simply, You have to rejoin. You have to read the rules, and I'm getting more strict. I don't want people coming in here because they feel some other girl deserves Sonic. I want people to come because they want to see something good happen to Sally, better characteristics to be revealed. So the member count will be restarted, those who noted before the update, I'm sorry you'll have to note again after reading the rules. If you're interested in hanging around after hearing new rules (that will ALWAYS be at the front page so that people don't have to bother taking 2 seconds to click a link), that's great. If not, I'm sorry, but we'll be listing other clubs that are probably better suited for the sentiments you hold.

What is the Anti Sally Club?

Anti to some is interpreted as "against". However its also been interpreted to mean "replace". We would like to replace the atmosphere Sally's been giving off and the constant dragging out of her negative characteristics. Here, any Sonic fan can rationally discuss what can improve Sally's image, whether they be a member or not. We'll be making a journal for such a discussion. Again, members and non members are allowed to discuss this situation but REFRAIN from bashing characters and from flaming one another.

Requirments for membership

To be apart of this club

*You have to beleive in the notion that Sonic/Sally is a primary factor in the negative depiction of Sally Acorn.

Required reasons for the above entry:

*You must feel that Sally is characterized by her love for her people (no particular male or female), while her 'role' in the story is summed up based on her relations with Sonic. We feel to change that love for her people is to change Sally. Her decisions, and actions have usually been fueled with them in mind, or with the idea they aren't sacrificed. We don't feel Sally can love both Sonic and her people at the same time. We define love as one's priority and figure of ultimate sacrifice and devotion. Her figure of sacrifice and devotion has been her people, and she will always put them before a love interest. We're not saying that because Sally loves the people, and no particular individual, that she should never get married, care about specific individuals, or have a family. We're saying Sally needs a suitor who is capable of tending to her dreams and is willing to be second priority so that the people can come first.

* You must feel Sonic and Sally both love their people, that they have this love in common. They'd do whatever is necessary to make sure they are okay. The problem with it is that they have strengths that aren't the same. If they love the people, and want to help them in the most effective ways they can manage, the obvious thing to do is to contribute abilties they're good at in order to help the community. Sally is good at leading and is a princess. Her place is preparing for her throne and governing the people. Sonic is good at being a hero, and enforcing assignments meant to help the community.

Looking at their strengths superficially, many people would say that would make a good team if married and rulers. However, This group doesn't agree with that. Sally has made a reasonable request to establish a co dependancy with someone. In return for her affections, her support and attention etc, Sally wants that someone to rule at her side, and to care about her personal needs. With someone ruling at her side, governing is more efficient. The burden isn't carried alone and Sally isn't as stressed. Less stress for Sally means the degree of her rash behavior and outbursts (said to be due to her her stress in issue #89) decreases.

We see a happier Sally and a Sally who isn't as overbearing, overemotional and rash, rather a more effective ruler. Problem is: Sonic's already made clear he lacks interest in a career in politics. Because he's a hero he doesn't want to be in the palace helping lift the burden of governing off of Sally, and attending to emotional pressure associated with the job he wants to go out...being the hero! He'd risk his life to help the people this way because he loves them. But because he's willing to die that leaves Sally to risk her emotional stability. Even if they did marry, and Sonic did go out, to risk something happening to Sonic is to risk emotional stability because she has relied on him to be there and such the like. Emotional instability and stress (which causes the rash outbursts) is something Sally understandably can no longer afford to have if possible to avoid. She's to be a queen, and her rash outbursts can put the fate of many people in serious danger. If Sally would be willing to risk that, her love is no longer to her people, the character Sally no longer has the dynamic that characterized who she's been for the past decade. The girl Sonic would end up with isn't the one that fans had initially seen. Same with if Sonic just ditched his love for heroics and being a free spirit. He'd no longer be the Sonic people wanted with Sally. So there is a sense of futility in keeping this pairing alive. They won't be who made them who they are. This situation also draws out bad aspects in Sally.

What the club is not about

* This club is not asking for Sally's flaws to be removed. This club understands that to remove all of Sally's flaws would mean she'd be flawless, and that in itself is a flaw (because she'd be unrealistic). Its futile, so instead of wanting her flaws removed, we can recognize they're present, but come together to stand for new stories in which there is no Sonic/Sally, and thus no situations that arouse her flaws and influence her to do the contraversial things she's done when very stressed.

*While you MAY think that another guy or girl is better for either Sonic or Sally, that's a personal issue. The club isn't here to say who is best, the club is here to say Sonic is bad for Sally, they're poor match, and that because of this Sally's character has been sacrificed. To see better sides to Sally there needs to be less of this pairing, and ideally its non existance. Do not note to the club saying "Chipumunks and hedgehogs don't go together cause they can't mate" Matter of fact SonAmy fans, I'll just blow this one out of the water so that you know not to use this arguement regarding the comics period, wherever you go. The species of the furries (Sonic, Sally, anthromorphs...okay?) are mobosapiens. Sonic and Sally are the same species, but are a different race of that species. So drop it. Even in the games, two animals who can't mate in real life (a wolf and a weasel) end up mating and having an offspring who we call Fang/Nack. So not only does that arguement not hold up in the US storylines, but I don't see how Sonic has the parts to mate with anything (joking), and that's not what the club's about.

*You may also have a dislike, for Sonic/Sally in the SatAM cartoon. But this club is against Archie's SonSal relationship. SatAM never raised the circumstances that would call for Sally to be a queen and to help her people in means that doesn't work with what Sonic does. Its very probable that they would've eventually but we have no proof of how the story would've turned out, so there's nothing we can really say. That's not to say you can't join if you dislike the SatAM depiction, but your reason for joining must be the reasons said for the Archie version of Sonic/Sally.

*This club is NOT trying to be ethnocentric or trying to display bigotry. Therefore we respect the mobian culture that is fine with not wearing clothes, and we respect real life cultures who do the same. Sally is not promoting sexuality by wearing no clothes. That is because the Mobians are not sexually enticed by nudity like most human cultures are. They walk around nude, and no one looks at that and sees it as a chance to ask for sexual favors. The nudity doesn't promote sexual nature within the characters so in her world she's not being a "slut", nor is she trying to be. Please don't note the club asking if hating Sally's nudity qualifies entry into the club.

Where to go if this club is not for you

Because this club is going to attract a LOT of Sally, haters, I feel its only fair to give them places to go if this club is indeed not fore them. If you happen to be one of those Sally or Sally/Sonic haters who came not expecting what we were about and don't want to be apart of this club:

Here is a list of Sally hate clubs:

~Kill-Sally-Club & *TEOSA

If you came here disliking Sonic/Sally for reasons the club has not mentioned, and feel there's no need for us to elaborate anything via notes, then here is a club against Sonic/Sally that you probably were expecting:

Was something not covered here that you want answered? If so note our club and we'll add it.

138 equals the big break

Sally says "its over between us in 138." A good day for fans against Sonic/Sally having a non platonic relationship.

This is a journal for those people who don't want to fish around for the club's latest updates on what's going on in the comic.

(here is the 134 spoiler that was a good day for those fans who saw the ideal relations between Sonic and Sally non romantic when they were together).

(here is news from Karl Bollers that would enlighten the members who want to be sure Sonic and Sally have a "just friends" relationship and no interest in one another. Why? Because Sally's interests might be going to someone else soon...)

(An interpretation on the Mobius 25 years later storyline that points out its lack of being set in stone and therefore a good read for the members against them elevating to a husband/wife status, as Mobius 25 years later is apparently in this Sonic writer's mind, not official).

Sally no longer wants to be with Sonic at the end of 134. Though in 138 Sally shares some words with Sonic that end the arguements of the skeptical.

Editorial Page

This is an archive of opinions from some of our members here. Keep in mind, some of the editorials were made prior to our club's official announcements on banning certain criteria to discuss, so they will not be deleted, but we will not post anymore of these. They made it before we made our announcement. The only people who can request for editorials to be deleted are the authors themselves. Any editorials that were made before the official annoucement will have a (*) symbol to indicate as such.

Now before reading, keep in mind, we're not calling people who see offense in nudeness as bigots. They're simply telling how this is an offense to their culture. Just as shaking with your left hand is an offense in some cultures, but I'm sure the characters have done that plenty of times. So read with an open mind and those editorials that made it before the announcement have a few that will show the cultural offense. And we're not saying these people don't have a right to be offended, we're just not going to make people who don't have bodily shame feel unwelcome. But we will alert them that those editorials in the past are simply cultural differences, and these writers didn't exactly have to see you as a bad person, rather they don't agree with your cultural preference.

(though, being the subject is sticky, we're avoiding the conflicts altogether from this point)
